Creating beautiful things… repurposing vintage & found items-transforming them & combining them to create beautiful new pieces. Moved out of Newborn diapers at 6.5 weeks, should have moved up 2 weeks prior! I knew I wanted red curtains, but that no one would have what I had in mind. This kitchen doesn’t get much lighting, so this was the stage to fix that. They are easy to wipe clean & the cupboards and drawers are all soft close, which is surprisingly nice!

All was not going smoothly since a surprise came in the form of additional electrical, plumbing and gas lines that needed to be run. Because the end of the kitchen by the pantry and the back door was freezing cold all winter I knew I needed to do a little something extra for insulation on the floor.

For storage I chose another wall of upper cabinets but included some glass cabinets in the center for display. For many reasons, time, budget, kids, work, and of course, indecision. Katie Ridder installed a rolling ladder (just like the library!) in this excellent kitchen to access ceiling-height cabinets.

I am going to make a German Apple Pancake for breakfast Saturday morning.) Yes, I know, one of the outlet covers is white and not stainless. It was still a pain in the butt but with all the layers and the nasty, tarry adhesive that was under the oldest layer, there was no easy way to get this job done.

Well, it’s Christmas week and time to make and wrap presents, not build cabinets. In a Manhattan apartment, the present kitchen cabinets were painted Benjamin Moore Aura in Black. Now to start building a new kitchen… after removing the soffits, it looks like I might have to reroute some wiring, and of course replace some sheetrock.
