Before: The pantry did provide lots of storage, but our fabulous cabinet maker, Ben Blackwelder , threw out the amazing idea of removing the pantry and adding a cabinet style pantry.
Because I wasn’t concerned about the doors, they would be replaced anyway, I got a sturdy cabinet that fit the size needed. The cabinet maker suggested we use big drawers like the ones below to store all the everyday dishes that we unload 1-2 times a day from our dishwasher.
The obvious first place to start was with the sink counter so we could get some running water back on the main floor. Just tell that to the friendly folks at Lowes and they’ll mix it right up. I love that you can get ANY color in small $2.50 samples at Lowes.
Some have asked why this little cabinet doesn’t go all the way to the ceiling. Dining room after: (Shutters will soon frame out these three windows and eventually we will find a cool chandelier we love to hang above the table.) Notice the ceiling was dropped to be even with the rest of the space.
