Okay, I know it’s considered gauche to talk about money, but we’re laying out all the details of our final budget because when we first started thinking about remodeling our kitchen, that was the one area that we were totally in the dark about, and we would have loved to have seen detailed budgets of other kitchen remodels.

It seems like I’m glazing over A LOT of work here but it was all really repetitive; rip, joint, cut, join, glue, clamp and sand… So I guess at this point we see some before and after pics.
I did some negotiating with various contractors and got the price down. We himed and hawed about what tile to use and decided to go with 18in square. I don’t think he really thought he needed it at first. That was alright because at this point I needed to start getting the woodshop ready for cabinet construction.
It makes the kitchen, and it is cheaper than a trip to the Costwolds! But your bathroom is 5×7, $30,000 would be a bit luxurious… while $30,000 in a 12×20 master suite would not go far. If you are adept to the situation, it is a good thing that you also make the right decision.
Thank you for taking the time to share all the thoughtful details. All was not going smoothly since a surprise came in the form of additional electrical, plumbing and gas lines that needed to be run. The floor was complete and covered with paper and cardboard to protect it and when those cabinets were brought in and the granite was placed on top i think i cried.
